LAKE PLACID — Attorney Matthew D. Norfolk opened a new law firm, Norfolk Law PLLC, earlier this month. The new office is located in the Outpost Plaza at 1936 Saranac Ave., Suite 106. Norfolk was previously teamed with Ronald Briggs in the Briggs Norfolk LLP firm at 2296 Saranac Ave. Norfolk’s practice concentrates on real estate law, land use and zoning matters, and civil litigation and appeals in both federal and state courts. He regularly represents individuals and businesses in both residential and commercial real estate transactions and related financing. With his knowledge of real estate law, he has seen success in litigating disputes involving easements, contested ownership claims and overreaching of governmental agencies in charge of management of Forest Preserve lands, and the use and zoning of private lands in the Adirondack Park.
Norfolk was born and raised in the Watertown area. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in natural resources at Cornell University in 1995 and his law degree in 1998 from St. John’s University School of Law in New York City.
Joining him at Norfolk Law are Lisette Cimaglia and Kate Mazdzer. Cimaglia has been working with Norfolk for the past four years, providing assistance in real estate files. She lived in Westchester County before moving to Lake Placid. Mazdzer is an experienced paralegal who is well-versed in real estate law and real estate lending. She moved with her family to Saranac Lake in 2001.
“The Norfolk Law logo reflects our character and our culture,” said Matthew Norfolk. “The colors reflect trust, diligence, ethics, professionalism and a balance of being strong and confident, but also pensive and wise. The origami bull is a symbol of the firm’s power, meticulous nature, and strategic and precise application of the law, as well as our experience gained in U.S. metropolitan areas and abroad, including Manhattan, Europe and Japan. In Japan, I was international counsel for a multinational engineering, electrical equipment and electronics company based in Tokyo.”
